Sonnet: Not Glass

In the rolling hills lies hidden a ditch
circumventing the world so even seas
roll farther down than any others which
tumble down mountainsides between tall trees.
It's possible on either edge to stand
stretching fingers towards its opposite side
at whomever also extends their hand
watching them live across that great divide.
And once a boy and a girl who saw there
another half of themselves sieved away
fell as water does, in love and despair
reaching and hoping that maybe someday--
They'd touch. And they did while falling through air
Leaping from cliffs to meet once more somewhere.
